About us
Who We Are
Bury St Edmunds & Stowmarket CLP is The Labour Party’s local presence in Bury St Edmunds, Stowmarket, and a large number of rural communities such as Thurston, Elmswell, and Woolpit. We are a volunteer-led Party, with hundreds of members across the constituency.
Our Representation
Our Labour MP for Bury St Edmunds and Stowmarket is Peter Prinsley. The Labour Party has also formed a coalition and leads West Suffolk District Council, which largely falls within our parliamentary constituency. The Leader of West Suffolk Council is Cliff Waterman. The Chair of the CLP is Quentin Cornish.
How We Operate
Our day-to-day running is overseen by an elected Executive Committee (EC), chaired by Quentin Cornish, the Chairperson for the CLP. Our constituency has two separate branches, one in Bury St Edmunds and the other in Stowmarket. These branches hold monthly meetings to plan local campaigns and provide the opportunity to meet other members in your local community.
Get Involved
Our membership is often involved in a range of activities, from door-knocking to leafleting. Our CLP also offers a range of social activities and events, and most recently hosted a charitable film screening on NYE and, before that, a Quiz.
